Maryknoll International Film Festival

Ida is the featured film for January in the 2016-2017 International Film Festival sponsored by the Maryknoll Fathers and Brothers. It will be shown Friday, January 20, 7:30 p.m. at Maryknoll, 55 Ryder Road in Ossining. Everyone is welcome and admission is free.

Ida is a 2013 film co-produced by Poland, Denmark, France and the UK from director Pawel Pawlikowski. It is about a young Polish woman on the verge of taking vows as a Catholic nun. Orphaned as an infant, she now discovers that her parents were Jewish.

The film festival provides nine monthly offerings on Friday evenings from September to May. The current series, Life through Death: Changes in Perception, includes an introduction by a Maryknoll missioner and a brief discussion after the screening.
