When the new Mt. Kisco library opened, there were still some construction costs to fund. Enter Daniele Churchill, owner of Churchills of Mount Kisco, with a tremendous gift of generosity: a mint condition 2008 BMW 128i convertible.

Ms. Churchill donated the car to the village to help raise funds to reduce the remaining costs from the construction of the new library. The American Legion, Moses Taylor Jr., Post 136 offered to sponsor an event for the library incorporating the BMW donation. The BMW will be offered as the grand prize in a raffle along with a second prize of a 50” plasma screen TV courtesy of Diamond Properties and a third prize of a gourmet dinner with racing for 10 guests courtesy of Grand Prix NY. The raffle tickets will cost $100 each but only 600 tickets will be offered.

The navy blue BMW convertible is currently on view inside the Grand Prix NY facility. When asked why she made a personal donation to the new library, Ms. Churchill responded, “I have always felt that you can never be too educated and that the library provides a wonderful way to educate yourself. As a new business owner and neighbor of the library, I wanted to extend my support to the community.” Ms. Churchill explained that she has always cherished and supported libraries. Sponsoring this fundraiser continues the long history established by the American Legion, Moses Taylor Jr. Post 136 of providing service to its community.

As stated in the Preamble of the American Legion, their mission is “…to inculcate a sense of individual obligation to the community, state and nation…” “We are always grateful for the presence of the American Legion in Mount Kisco,” stated Mayor J. Michael Cindrich, “these members have served their country and continue to honor that service by supporting this community in countless ways.”

Grand Prix NY will host the fundraiser, “Speeding Towards The Future: Race For The Library”, on Friday, January 29, 2010 from 7:00 p.m. to 11:00 p.m.at their facility at 333 North Bedford Road in Mount Kisco.

The evening will feature an open bar, hors d’oeuvres, racing and music provided by Michael Nappi, a talented local musician often featured on 107.1, The Peak. The evening will culminate in drawing the winning raffle tickets for the gourmet dinner and racing, the TV and finally the BMW; winners need not be present to win.

Tickets for the cocktail party are being offered for $50 per person, but purchasers of raffle tickets can buy a ticket to the event for $25 per person. Tickets can be purchased at the Mount Kisco Library, Grand Prix NY, the American Legion in Mount Kisco or by contacting Sheila Smith at sheila@squarevents.com or 914.649.7173.
